Fed: Mad Cow disease boost prospects for Aussie beef exports

Australia's exports promotion body AUSTRADE is fielding numerous inquiries about Australian
beef as European consumers seek a safe alternative to their own mad cow disease tainted
herds.

A Senate estimates committee has heard there are subsbtantial beef export prospects
in both Europe and Asia.

But the big one, the European Union remains tantalisingly out of reach and has yet
to expand the current 7,000 tonne quota of Australian beef exports.
