WA: Mallard says DPP's suspect comment beggars belief

PERTH, Feb 21 AAP - Andrew Mallard says it beggars belief prosecutors would drop a
murder case against him if he was still a prime suspect for the brutal killing of a Perth
jeweller.

Mr Mallard, 43, spent his first day out of jail today saying his life would remain
on hold until he could prove his innocence by finding the real murderer of Pamela Lawrence.

He was convicted in 1995 of the 1994 murder of Ms Lawrence, who was found dying, in
a pool of blood, at her upmarket jewellery store in suburban Mosman Park. She had been
