Vic: DLP lose seat in poll recount but ALP still lacks majority

The Democratic Labor Party has lost one of its upper house seats to the Labor Party
.. after a recount.

But the ALP has still failed to return a majority in the Legislative Council .. after
losing another seat to the Greens.

The Victorian Electoral Commission says DLP candidate JOHN MULHOLLAND has been replaced
in the northern metropolitan electorate by the ALP's NAZIH ELASMAR.

But Labor's HENRY BARLOW .. who provisionally won the western metropolitan seat ..

has conceded defeat to the Green's COLLEEN HEARTLAND after a recount.

And the DLP's held on to one upper house position in the electorate of western Victoria.

The recount leaves the ALP with 19 of the 40 seats in the upper house .. against the
Liberal Party's 15.

The National Party has two .. the Greens three and the DLP one.
